Evaluation

Evaluation
  • Monitoring = targets and milestones
  • To measure progress & achievements
  • Planned inputs & whether they produced planned outputs
  • Difference between monitoring and evaluation = Evaluation is placing a judgement on information gathered during a project
  • The assessment of a project's success is evaluation.
  • Who is evaluating? Industry person
  • Evaluation = 7 paragraphs + 1 psycho
  • Efficiency = The extent to which activities, outputs and desired effects are achieved with the lowest possible use of resources/inputs.
  • Effectiveness = The extent of which a project meets VT's output/objectives
  • Impact = Measure of change that results from the output being completed e.g. number of action taken up
  • Qualitative = refers to data that are words (open questions)
  • Quantitative = refers to numerical data (yes/no)
  • Outcome = measures the change in 'behaviour' or 'resource use', in relation to goal of project
  • Outputs = product of service delivered as part of a project's activity
  • Relevance = does the goal meet the target group's needs or priorities?
  • Sustainability = likelihood of change, continuing once intervention has ceased.
Mock Interview - Reflection
I began preparation for my mock interview by researching common interview questions and how to conduct myself in an interview scenario. This research was effective because I was then able to learn the best way to deal with an interview and how to answer certain questions such as "Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?". During my mock interview, I felt that while I was able to maintain eye contact with the interviewer, I felt unable to keep my answer concise and related to the question, which meant that my answer got a little bit "lost" along the way. Therefore, in future interviews, I will do more preparation to make sure I can answer questions more confidently.

Personal Statement/Online Bio - Reflection
I began preparation for my personal statement and my online bio by compiling a list of all of my academic achievements, such as work experience and projects I have completed on my course as well as personal achievements, such as National Citizen Service. From this list, I was able to create a structure for what to talk in both my personal statement and my online bio. From this process, I learnt that online bios and personal statements are great ways for me to effectively sell myself to an employer in the future.

CV - Reflection
I began preparing my CV by researching the typical structure of a good CV, which includes contact details, summary, work experience, academic background and skills. After conducting this research, I began to plan what I wanted to say for the sections such as summary and skills and then compiling details about my academic background and the work experience I have had before structuring my CV. From this process, I have learnt the effective way to structure a CV for when I go for job interviews in the future.

Formal letter - Reflection
I began preparing a formal letter by researching into an employer for my dream workplace (the BBC) and looking at "winning formulas" for formal letters. I used some successful examples to structure my own formal letter effectively. From this process, I have learnt the effective way to structure a formal letter.

Training drama - Reflection
For my training drama, me and my group received a brief which involved us portraying how you should conduct yourself in an interview, how you shouldn't conduct yourself in an interview and how it is advised that you don't conduct yourself in an interview. From this, we filmed a tutorial that involved three interviews and edited it together and used captions to point out the things you should and shouldn't do. From this process, I learned how to conduct myself properly in future job interviews.

Phone call - Reflection
I prepared for my phone call by researching key things to remember when taking a phone call in the workplace such as using a positive and sincere tone and using the company's name. For this task, I used the fact that I work in a restaurant and that I have to take calls from people wanting bookings as part of my job so I used this formula for my phone call, where I was taking a booking for a customer using the advice I had researched. From this process, I learned how to conduct in a professional manner when taking a phone call in the workplace.

Showreel - Reflection
I began preparing for my showreel by researching into showreels for the chosen career paths I wish to take, which was effective because the outcome of this research enabled me to put together a showreel that was fit for my chosen career path. I started by compiling a list of both my projects and other people's projects that I have participated in and choosing a soundtrack that I felt represented me as a filmmaker. From here, I used Premiere Pro to put together a selection of 'best bits' from all of my projects. The efficiency of my showreel in the future will allow me to give any future employer a "best bits" video of all of my work, which will show them what I'm able to do as a filmmaker.

How have I changed?
In conclusion, from fulfilling all of these tasks, I think that I have changed because I have become more efficient in conducting myself professionally in career situations such as professional phone calls and interviews, as well as being able to effectively structure a CV, formal letter, online bio and showreel. Therefore, the outcome of completing these activities will enable me to conduct myself in the best way possible in my future career.
